It is now 8:00 pm and still 94 degrees outside. (We won't talk about the humidity!) But when it is a good day to dye...you just gotta dye.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I hand-dyed 11 of my 15 bamboo scarves, plus a bit more. This scarf was dyed in peacock and then (because I have to play with something new...) I stamped a Jacquard textile color on top of the dyed fabric with a homemade stamp. Whew! barely made it from end to end with my little sample bottle of ink. I'm lovin' the texture. It will be for sale at the upcoming Azzurro Luna Studio sale that happens in November. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I have actually done both, but today I am embracing the latest of the<span style="color: #990000;"><span style="background-color: white;"> </span><span style="background-color: white;"><i>changes</i></span></span> that keep rolling into my world. Remember this <a href="http://www.gotitfromgranny.blogspot.com/2014/06/on-halves.html" target="_blank">picture?</a></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7dxisKlkOgK9V7eRk9jvD5RCxP2IDcsft02ASyVl07oEeLlq5fV_xruMqg4nSTqfQ5r2PXD8foKzBNGHq-0qfhFkrxbnb-PZpTIulYm1N2X6bD65npf0nnjkkx4oW7OWBJPTERWT4jDji/s1600/blankquiltingbag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7dxisKlkOgK9V7eRk9jvD5RCxP2IDcsft02ASyVl07oEeLlq5fV_xruMqg4nSTqfQ5r2PXD8foKzBNGHq-0qfhFkrxbnb-PZpTIulYm1N2X6bD65npf0nnjkkx4oW7OWBJPTERWT4jDji/s1600/blankquiltingbag.jpg" height="234" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Well it is now part of my rolling office! There has been a <i><span style="color: #990000;">change</span> </i>and you are looking at the new fabric rep for Blank Quilting Corp. So now you know why this blog has been stagnate!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I keep <i><span style="color: #990000;">changing my mind</span> </i>on packing these totes. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8FtwPCuPCEQQZOcdNnmIkmC1VrS0Lo12UX_X7f10bxpkCVEFu_hyphenhyphen4gBwHc09mS5hzPLNvE_QsIlc1UGbTVzCrecZMFzK_AG_-7rQhWhs8UuWRNysZGREox389PjRRL22X5oXWQmDcp6PI/s1600/TravelingSales.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8FtwPCuPCEQQZOcdNnmIkmC1VrS0Lo12UX_X7f10bxpkCVEFu_hyphenhyphen4gBwHc09mS5hzPLNvE_QsIlc1UGbTVzCrecZMFzK_AG_-7rQhWhs8UuWRNysZGREox389PjRRL22X5oXWQmDcp6PI/s1600/TravelingSales.jpg" height="320" width="293" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">(Actually, there was a <i style="color: #990000;">change</i> in ownership at Blank Quilting Corp too.) I think everyone may still in the transitional learning curve but thanks to the worker bee's at Blank (CG and RB, specifically) with the leadership of Scott Fortunoff, that curve is more of a straight path everyday. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Another <i style="color: #990000;">change</i> is on the brown truck! The new line of fabric should be at my door today, so I will get to <i style="color: #990000;">change</i> my packed bags once again. (Weekend project with coffee....can't wait to see what's in the box.) A preview e-mail from Scott listed the 11 new lines. The last on the list was <i>Western Album by Western Denim & Dirt</i>, designed by native Texan <span style="font-size: x-large;"><a href="http://www.designsbytana.com/" target="_blank">TANA MEULLER</a>!! </span>Now how cool is that? Native Texan Tana is going to be selling a design by Tana. Wonder how many people I can confuse with that one. ~Good thing I sign my work tdoss, otherwise I might be the first to be confused~</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Alright, on that thought, I need to go make some <span style="color: #38761d;"><i>change!!</i></span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When I was in my formative years if you called Granny during the summer and asked, "What are you doing?" She would probably reply, "Working on the halves." This meant her home would be filled with the sweet sweet smells of peaches, strawberries, figs or any other fruit or vegetable that was in season. She had friends that would bring her bushels upon bushels of fresh from the farm bounty and she would either can their goodness or blanch and bag for freezing. Her payment for her labor? That would be<span style="background-color: white;"> <b style="color: #274e13; font-style: italic;">half</b> the bounty!</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Maybe I have learned her lesson well. :-) </span></span><br />

I have a stitching friend, <strike>Robin Kinley</strike>, that is a fabric rep for <a href="http://blankquilting.com/" target="_blank">Blank Quilting</a>. She was in the middle of a major household move when the new line of fabrics arrived at her door. Can I just say....half of that fabric in the picture above is mine! (Insert a big smile!)</div>

I just loved this fabric!The variety of flowers makes it fun if you like to fussy cut, hence the center motif. The blue and yellow combination along with the turquoise is very calming, but I love how the splash of orange gives it such character and really makes these fabrics fun. </div>

The second line of fabrics was a bit more challenging for me even though I fell in love with the mosaic dragonfly's and flowers instantly. When I saw this bag pattern, I knew the busy print would mix perfectly with the companion tone on tone fabrics. Really think I might "forget" to deliver this bag to Robin. P.S. Just so you know, I could give a tomato a hot water bath, peel and core probably by the time I was 7. There is nothing like standing in a chair watching red orbs bob up and down in a steaming vat of boiling water. I can still recall the feeling of my arms covered in sweet tomato juice. </div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Isn't this a great scrap quilt! My stitching buddies, the Have Knots, are letting me quilt their beautiful creation. I'm new to the group so I didn't participate in the making of the top, so a little quilting is my way of contributing to the effort! </span><br />

I just fell in love at first site, but she wasn't for sale. (Like I said, she was supervising!) I did, however, leave very inspired. I came home and immediately drafted a pattern for a small bunny.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjJxEVpAJ3atldLr3mqgKUKDxwv_V-XZKIfpagpejpUAtP4nsNiLE9lYEcGkM0qVBEcHt_SgxinZCkA1dMxx3-ZJw6bdoTgAFu5xGbSVX_6QI6jTQqnebSdDnWU0koLlWE2kXfp4diqZFi/s1600/BunnyCouple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjJxEVpAJ3atldLr3mqgKUKDxwv_V-XZKIfpagpejpUAtP4nsNiLE9lYEcGkM0qVBEcHt_SgxinZCkA1dMxx3-ZJw6bdoTgAFu5xGbSVX_6QI6jTQqnebSdDnWU0koLlWE2kXfp4diqZFi/s1600/BunnyCouple.jpg" height="320" width="219" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Then I had to remember the process of paint, distress (sand) and stain muslin to make it "primitive", but this cute little couple came out of the process. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">This little baby just can't get enough embroidery. I started with a piece of tatting and then it just kept needing more....</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjZfKhv0eUh1BKeX2wvJXGuwJWjDwCVpnQvLXdXUBFllc5sYvej7YAz5c9V94NviS3rTdd9Awv6bRHFYmsTHdeolpOR7AfLYITvMG_e85ijFjAD3-IhSE6IvAFViF-0Vpihey8RQ6vwh2/s1600/EmbroideryBunny.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjZfKhv0eUh1BKeX2wvJXGuwJWjDwCVpnQvLXdXUBFllc5sYvej7YAz5c9V94NviS3rTdd9Awv6bRHFYmsTHdeolpOR7AfLYITvMG_e85ijFjAD3-IhSE6IvAFViF-0Vpihey8RQ6vwh2/s1600/EmbroideryBunny.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I should probably finish her face and call her done! I only "aged" the muslin with coffee on this bunny. I hope to have a pattern and tutorial finished by Friday that I will post on the entire process. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">There is a <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/paper-crafts/bunny-rabbit-ornament/49439" target="_blank">pattern</a> for this bunny in paper...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I love Scherenschnitte (paper cutting). This ornament will sit on the table or hang from the center connecting thread. Working on another something Egg-stra special in paper cutting too. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">One event after another had delayed the finishing of a quilt that I had committed to enter into the show. (Have you ever "picked out" any quilting?...At least three hours of pulling strings was really annoying.) The day the quilts were to be delivered another un-anticipated event made it necessary to leave town no later than 11:15....quilt <i>receiving</i> was to last until 1:00. (I had <i>anticipated</i> being the last person to deliver my quilt.) So, the moral of this little tale....Even if you are sitting in the parking lot of the convention center using every last minute to sew the binding close...it can be worth the effort!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYkUf8B8IX9zeiC9omP6jp4OmrtN2CFKj4QKgza3_5b4KOcyK8oJEeEcvdaQfLLiMLmjjkUpA7HlTKe0pDS5HR067NX4NlKx6KZxBOVPCPiWk3XiXtjZpFkHvZQa5O41v6bSvAtg-PuBC/s1600/IMG_2042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicYkUf8B8IX9zeiC9omP6jp4OmrtN2CFKj4QKgza3_5b4KOcyK8oJEeEcvdaQfLLiMLmjjkUpA7HlTKe0pDS5HR067NX4NlKx6KZxBOVPCPiWk3XiXtjZpFkHvZQa5O41v6bSvAtg-PuBC/s1600/IMG_2042.JPG" height="640" width="444" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">My favorite judge's comment was about how bindings should be smooth without puckers! If she only knew.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Now that all the drama has settled, it is back to things unfinished. I had pulled out the 10 completed blocks from the 2013 Saturday Sampler Block of the Month from a local quilt shop. I completed the last 2 today, but before I could get my sewing mess cleared away here comes...</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Square #1 of a pizza box exchange quilt left me today...it will come back home at the end of the year full of 12 1/2" blocks made by my friends of the <i>Have Knots, Will Travel </i>quilt group. I am absolutely </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #cc0000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">terrible</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #660000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-large;"> </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">at keeping secrets, so I hope no one asks what I made for them. (Of course, they might just find the beans spilt right here on the blog...) </span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I did a variation of the </span><a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FriendlyHandBlock.html" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;" target="_blank">Friendship Star pattern</a><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">. This quilt just seemed to need that pattern :)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCeHraqXDhKF1QslT-MBiI2jk0Gpm72t_g_fTHABK0RYtkJ4HxNpwukPIYD5cCcJaJY6Q-tZtQsPdAHmNqVcv0FdvCvG7jLyg79IHSlW0EJrNmS9nJGKWQyHQKFm0Nb2ym7eKyixv4SiXb/s1600/GrandeBOM1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCeHraqXDhKF1QslT-MBiI2jk0Gpm72t_g_fTHABK0RYtkJ4HxNpwukPIYD5cCcJaJY6Q-tZtQsPdAHmNqVcv0FdvCvG7jLyg79IHSlW0EJrNmS9nJGKWQyHQKFm0Nb2ym7eKyixv4SiXb/s1600/GrandeBOM1.jpg" height="464" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This is the other project I have under the needle. The raspberry orange block on the left was the first 2014 BOM from the local quilt shop that is <i>way way </i>too close to my house. Instead of the 12 1/2" block, mine is 20" finished. I made the half-square triangles from 5 7/8" squares. The pattern is Barbara Fritchie Star, I was so inspired by the pattern and color, I decided to make a small children's quilt from 4 - 20" blocks (and probably a border). Not being able to wait for the February meeting, I cut out more half-square triangle blocks to make the <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/D/DepressionBlock.html" target="_blank">Depression Square pattern</a>. Those two patterns just seemed happy together. The fabric from <a href="http://www.animblethimble.com/" target="_blank">A Nimble Thimble</a> for our block of the month is the green in between the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/GrannysGift" target="_blank">monkeys</a>. How did she know that would be a perfect fit across from my Depression Square block??</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Alternate layout of the squares....</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij6JoieAc-DAl_-pc9Ni8JEJaeUagKxxqIkpzPtLIWrAbGq3vlSZD-7fR8I2vxi8HyMby7daE4encMjQ_G5UK3PhcE62b5STT3WzrTS0MHkwKrnadRkr9diAIW5cgGdVaCDRIlHqo5Lvjm/s1600/GrandeBOM2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij6JoieAc-DAl_-pc9Ni8JEJaeUagKxxqIkpzPtLIWrAbGq3vlSZD-7fR8I2vxi8HyMby7daE4encMjQ_G5UK3PhcE62b5STT3WzrTS0MHkwKrnadRkr9diAIW5cgGdVaCDRIlHqo5Lvjm/s1600/GrandeBOM2.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I think I like how the dark green frames the corners. The turquoise and green are from my hand dyed stash. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I did flip 2 blocks after this picture was taken. Funny what you see in print that you don't always see in <i>real life. </i>Guess I'm off to sew this up quickly, before I start rotating blocks around again or cut into the fabrics I was <i>marinating over</i>.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDPUI9DdQzNwunyE3n0cqQG8zV1UixFzTjuIRxyhSfeOsZqQdFVXAg8b_mc5MN6GSpsUfg6_ul1KoSjWeIX0FHIiwFRKWzrDGULWEKY9w1_PgnM2hoXplHrj6xwuiWPGpRAWjUMzDqbrpy/s1600/valflowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDPUI9DdQzNwunyE3n0cqQG8zV1UixFzTjuIRxyhSfeOsZqQdFVXAg8b_mc5MN6GSpsUfg6_ul1KoSjWeIX0FHIiwFRKWzrDGULWEKY9w1_PgnM2hoXplHrj6xwuiWPGpRAWjUMzDqbrpy/s1600/valflowers.jpg" height="640" width="435" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My <i style="color: #990000; font-size: x-large;">Valentine date </i>and I had agreed to a quiet evening in our newly updated dining room. He had even bought me flowers for the occasion. I was to prepare Roasted Shrimp Enchiladas with Jalapeno Cream Sauce. YUM! (Been waiting all week to try this recipe.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My <i>date</i> was available to go to the grocery store with me, so we headed out early afternoon to run several errands and to grocery shop. On the way to our first errand we began talking about what we would like to do to finish our house transformation and before we really realized what had happened it was pushing the early evening hour. About 6 furniture/accessory stores later (including a quick trip back home for pillows to match fabric) there was still no food for our date night menu. HERE IS WHERE THE TRAUMA BEGINS. Every person that lives in and around our little town of almost 100thou was driving on the main west to east loop and north to south highway. That would be 100 thousand cars in a 4 square mile radius. The traffic was worse than the holiday shopping time of year. I love my man! He would have been happy with a sandwich if it meant we didn't have to go grocery shopping. (I found salmon in the freezer and the meal was fabulous!) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This morning I had my usual e-mail notification from Craftsy of the number of pattern downloads. The free download usually ranges from 2 to 5 per day. <i style="color: #990000; font-size: xx-large;">648 Heart Attack </i>downloads yesterday. Seems like there were some last minute internet shoppers too. If you still need a heart, you can find the <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/paper-crafts/heart-attack/51687" target="_blank">pattern here....</a></div>

<span style="font-size: small;">The quilt is also finished! I call it Backyard Blooms because of the hand dyed fabrics that I did...well...in the backyard! The actual pattern is from <a href="https://www.byannie.com/shop/product/bling-bling-blooms/" target="_blank"><i>Bling Bling Blooms by </i>Annie Unrein</a>. It came as part of a tutorial from <a href="http://www.superiorthreads.com/" target="_blank">Superior Threads</a>. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>

Then sometimes I will say, "Updating," but since I am not necessarily young and fresh and I like what I like...updating is a relative term. <b>Face-lift</b>....I think that is the description I have been searching for and as I suspect, when you get a face-lift, you then need to color your hair, then you need new clothes, and then you need....well, then one thing leads to another and then another.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

As he was painting the walls of our little room and I was standing there chatting (i.e. not helping) I started picking at the wallpaper in the kitchen. Ha!.....</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVp00Dq27kei78QrsLdtQq1uN-JR9ClEN7b2L9JEKqvvOnubEwBuAZfKBkdy0iyIdHIZkuVCe6bKpVEhsMNiGYU2T9iODeRIDfv3NmNVqVfFFRDfF6XDgkg0yN-54-1IdD-Gk_W5Nzn5Z-/s1600/house+remodel+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVp00Dq27kei78QrsLdtQq1uN-JR9ClEN7b2L9JEKqvvOnubEwBuAZfKBkdy0iyIdHIZkuVCe6bKpVEhsMNiGYU2T9iODeRIDfv3NmNVqVfFFRDfF6XDgkg0yN-54-1IdD-Gk_W5Nzn5Z-/s1600/house+remodel+001.jpg" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Before I really knew what had happened, the once dark green kitchen was being viewed in a new light. I was pregnant with my #2 son when we had this wallpaper hung....he will be 21 years old in a few months. Okay, I will admit that it was time for a change. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Not real sure how we managed to get these walls textured and painted, the Christmas decos in place, the living room and entry painted as well and the mess cleaned before anyone arrived for celebrations. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">~Counter tops are next. Guess I'm not procrastinating any longer ;-)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Well things have been very busy around here completing this pillow and other hand crafted items for an annual <a href="http://sharonsgardennotes.blogspot.com/p/azzurro-luna-studio.html" target="_blank">Studio Sale</a> that I collaborate with a friend.<br />
<br />
The little frog got a visit from a fairy! I really wondered the entire time I was coloring and stitching if she was giving him a charm or a wish or just making his day brighter with a little fairy dust. It is possible that I should call on all fairies, brownies and elves to come and help complete all that is still "in progress" in the craft room.<br />
<br />
Here is a little preview of what we will have for sale...<br />

It started this morning when I checked my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/GrannysGift?ref=search_shop_redirect" target="_blank">etsy shop</a> and had a request for a custom art pillow.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFg0ocp69aC5XtDHIOZiDu5uvV9_chnc2CdBMVcksbHIHiGFnfCJeeEISB1ZvTkykJeGuNdhdnquz4Zbz1qMFbo6hh1zzYcay3AJpdnwWIloxHe7UKzmicPcufHTbpZviibaU-PzPqb8o/s1600/BrownOnGreenMushroom3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="454" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAFg0ocp69aC5XtDHIOZiDu5uvV9_chnc2CdBMVcksbHIHiGFnfCJeeEISB1ZvTkykJeGuNdhdnquz4Zbz1qMFbo6hh1zzYcay3AJpdnwWIloxHe7UKzmicPcufHTbpZviibaU-PzPqb8o/s640/BrownOnGreenMushroom3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This is the pillow that she liked...BUT....could I do the same muted tones with a frog/toad theme. (If you must know...I'm not very fond of frog/toads.) I decided to make a little sketch of an idea and look through some fabric to see if there was a <i>vision.</i></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZH-CVgIgOvWR6vIbjy_-BZwyIrCUTny2i4-ZfH4ySTRL2XTGznM9zLYDQ9IHuOlTH_rqxEQhyZ5b8T2VeDMl_O1VeIH1rzJfEJ4ZfNSQKK_KrB8FKQ6baLdw-w1uBQnNn3Li3W9EIGyLk/s1600/IMG_1843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="496" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZH-CVgIgOvWR6vIbjy_-BZwyIrCUTny2i4-ZfH4ySTRL2XTGznM9zLYDQ9IHuOlTH_rqxEQhyZ5b8T2VeDMl_O1VeIH1rzJfEJ4ZfNSQKK_KrB8FKQ6baLdw-w1uBQnNn3Li3W9EIGyLk/s640/IMG_1843.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I think this toad would be very "hoppy" if the pillow back was cut from a piece of hand dyed fabric. Waiting now to see if our ideas are mutual. He may get a little color pencil anyway just for fun...</span><br />

It was a homecoming of sorts for me and a new adventure for him. A Great Aunt that I barely knew, shared her home so that I could afford to continue my college education. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The youngest of 5 children, with my grandmother being the oldest, Aunt Beth was just a few years older than my dad. I hesitated on the move for a bit, because I did not want to go from my parents house into another "parental" situation. I am happy to say, that we had a really <span style="font-size: large;">great</span> year! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">We drank Coke (Coca Cola) by the cases, she taught me to knit and needlepoint. Sometimes Grandmomma would join us with catfish from a farm between our homes and we would cook and stay up all night talking about life, school, men, expectations and reality. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Final goodbyes were said to Aunt Beth today. When you share your life with someone they just own a piece of you. ♥ Please kiss Grandmomma for me and hug my dog!</span><br />

The doodles most often appear when I'm talking (or long long holds) on the phone and after discovering Zentangle art, I decided their "Zen" powers have kept me calm during impending telephone angst. A full description of Zentangle can be found at zentangle.com but even those of us with an informal knowledge, pen and paper can still have fun.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Before I really knew that I was creating a tangle, I had quilted and painted this piece with colored pencil on Kona cotton.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiM95I24TJ25yKGvL0msLBYJ-zugw_k_U8dOSLaZnxckqhADf_5yNW1VUcDPjLN5J6MWckYA5dNjfQBDdcV5dsS-nf0I8c4ZNiff0qg8ecrbyQqMtyRTzBQfNOJ-LRMx82VT-j3xHQGYi6/s1600/heartsaround.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="572" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiM95I24TJ25yKGvL0msLBYJ-zugw_k_U8dOSLaZnxckqhADf_5yNW1VUcDPjLN5J6MWckYA5dNjfQBDdcV5dsS-nf0I8c4ZNiff0qg8ecrbyQqMtyRTzBQfNOJ-LRMx82VT-j3xHQGYi6/s640/heartsaround.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Hmmm, doodling with a sewing machine. I think I will finish this with a black satin stitch edging and add a hanging loop to the back. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Now that I am aware that my doodles are more than just doodles and that many patterns even have names, I have stepped up the doodle game. (Albeit with a double ended Sharpie and art paper.)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Not real sure why the droplets emerged. Possibly thinking of all the sweat that has poured from my pores these past few days while at the campground.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTq6th5NRo88Ha0zrNIsI3L0GAB3JnoOlzK4Z_Ud9n0M0OEEojHoqc8CQxpAxPfry6YQ1l9ALijXvQ1oRMvzbCMFgD0naObHD3z_DhLZIWwr94rB6WizQv8b5YeNrxnSbk2B-kzzunPNzY/s1600/GardenFloor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTq6th5NRo88Ha0zrNIsI3L0GAB3JnoOlzK4Z_Ud9n0M0OEEojHoqc8CQxpAxPfry6YQ1l9ALijXvQ1oRMvzbCMFgD0naObHD3z_DhLZIWwr94rB6WizQv8b5YeNrxnSbk2B-kzzunPNzY/s400/GardenFloor.jpg" width="196" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">"Garden Floor" began with the checkerboard pattern. I wanted to see how difficult is was to give it a <i>wave</i>. After that, I really did not know where the design was going to go. I wasn't surprised that it ended in flowers. If it isn't a heart, then it is usually a flower. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Hope you are feeling the urge to doodle a little. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">It only took a year of indecision, but we finally plunged back into the world of camping. The matching logo shirts and mugs were from the RV dealership in celebration of 50 years. I am sure I have 50 years of wandering left in me....(LOL! A couple of centenarians pulling a 30ft trailer. Move out of the way quickly.)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The first outing was a three night stay in a state park close to home. Even though this is our fourth trailer, each has its own personality and quirks. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkkcJ_vvBCi7MWxU046DAentpvUa1sA-TsdnPf1koNsgr2At00mNDQOf0WuyS2dzi_xorYQjIXWXOmMIauY6smhNX9FJP4c-e4HnYiQC6U6zRBgXL4USERD85Yei4wVxz20Dcai0KwKeqh/s1600/traveling002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkkcJ_vvBCi7MWxU046DAentpvUa1sA-TsdnPf1koNsgr2At00mNDQOf0WuyS2dzi_xorYQjIXWXOmMIauY6smhNX9FJP4c-e4HnYiQC6U6zRBgXL4USERD85Yei4wVxz20Dcai0KwKeqh/s640/traveling002.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">And this is the first one to have <i>most </i>of the comforts of home!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Hubby asked me the other day (while we were re-packing after the weekend trip) if I was going to be able to sew at the dining table. Tee hee...he knows me too well, and no, the sewing machine probably will not be going on trips. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmh_I3jN1zmdDVgYx0TxU5ymAPoBE7Nk6968D72qCbNTQhtTInI5sdtXP-VcTQyeTku5yxsALASga45fHJEgNeVu1w1ykkEBcNHuHhjHAxTU_zA7OFNvE7iCjsCixtGodio27iWH3XtlB/s1600/Quilting+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="516" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmh_I3jN1zmdDVgYx0TxU5ymAPoBE7Nk6968D72qCbNTQhtTInI5sdtXP-VcTQyeTku5yxsALASga45fHJEgNeVu1w1ykkEBcNHuHhjHAxTU_zA7OFNvE7iCjsCixtGodio27iWH3XtlB/s640/Quilting+004.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">However, I am rarely without a traveling craft. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I fell in love with this quilt pattern at the first of the summer and cut several units to hand piece while in the car.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAxnK1cwfwnemxkg_0ryH45RaWEJ1PK9CzG-VSD15znKQ9OcbVZw6swNBKF7UtaIQzgnL0uNs85jG5Y5GSCSmehu8fCi6ngcgDxr5RzGbRQLuHqUBYNkezAs27Fe9u8tjy5q_CWBfbVUCw/s1600/Quilting+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAxnK1cwfwnemxkg_0ryH45RaWEJ1PK9CzG-VSD15znKQ9OcbVZw6swNBKF7UtaIQzgnL0uNs85jG5Y5GSCSmehu8fCi6ngcgDxr5RzGbRQLuHqUBYNkezAs27Fe9u8tjy5q_CWBfbVUCw/s640/Quilting+002.jpg" width="602" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Guidelines for a travel craft are:</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">it must not be messy (this project almost has too many </span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">pieces, but if they stay in their own bag, things usually work fine)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">pattern should not require too much counting, labeling or referencing</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">if the project is put down or I look away to view the scenery, it should be easy to pick up and start again</span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">A good start to a happy quilt...</span><br />

<br />
Or maybe I should say, "Two happy days of living under the rainbow!". This picture was even taken after an unprecedented July rain. My friend, <a href="http://sharonsgardennotes.blogspot.com/2013/07/another-fabric-dying-episode.html" target="_blank">Sharon</a> and I recently adventured into creating hand dyed fabrics and other items. This is an event that we have talked about for some time and finally managed to feel confident enough to jump into little puddles of color and just create.<br />
<br />
The<i> coloring </i>started by mixing our 20 plus dyes with urea water in individual little cups. We could then pick<br />

and choose which colors to add in a direct dye method. How fun to see the colors explode onto the fabrics and to be able to lay a variety of colors next to one another.<br />

I also tried my hand at wax resist or batik. I think this was probably on my unofficial bucket list of things to do. <br />

The batik process may have been cut short, but I was still able to get some really fun fabrics out of the two days. Calling this fabric group <i>Orange Slice</i>. The process consisted of applying wax to white fabric, (leaving 1/2 of the fabric un-waxed) dyeing it orange. Then I waxed the orange 1/2 yard of fabric and discharged the<br />

<br />
These wild orange flowers started with a potato stamp and then used a tjanting tool to make the petals.<br />
<br />
And then, just how much color is too much color on one yard of fabric? The brown and the green fabrics started as a single unit. After I had added the smaller, darker triangles I cut the fabric in half. One side I dyed in deep orange for the brown background and the other half was dyed in chartreuse for the green background.<br />

This was way more fun than any old coloring book, but I can see it will certainly take some planning to ensure a successful dye process.<br />
<br />
Happy coloring!<br />
